Díaz Food Solutions, Andalusian benchmark in food distribution, is committed to solar self-consumption and electric mobility

The company makes the decision within its plan to improve competitiveness and efficiency, in a sector highly dependent on energy consumption

Lucena (Córdoba), October 20, 2020.- The Córdoba-based company Díaz Food Solutions , and dedicated to the distribution of food and deep-frozen foods, has launched a global energy efficiency project in the hands of the Cordovan company EnconeSolar . The plan includes the development of a photovoltaic plant for solar self-consumption on the roof of its central warehouses located in Córdoba, as well as the installation of three charging points for a renewed fleet of electric vehicles.

The origin of the project dates back to three years ago, when, in order to gain competitiveness and make comprehensive improvements, Díaz Food Solutions decided to invest in energy supply through solar self - consumption to lower costs.

 “We decided to take the step supported by the advice of EnconeSolar, as well as the trust they have transmitted to us at all times. And, of course, in the presentation of a beneficial project from all perspectives of business management ”, said Julio Díaz, CEO of the firm.

The field of solar panels that Díaz Food Solutions has decided to enable consists of 280 modules of 440 Watt peak (Wp), thanks to which it will be able to self-produce 26.91% of the energy it consumes. At the same time, the solar plant will avoid the emission into the atmosphere of 76.21 tons of CO 2 per year, equivalent to the planting of 152 trees in that time.

Beginning of the installation of the charging points for electric cars that the company has also begun to build with the help of EnconeSolar.

“It is a very interesting savings plan for a company like ours, since we are one of the largest companies in Andalusia in negative cold capacity (-22 ºC) and, therefore, we need a high consumption of electricity every year . According to the study carried out by EnconeSolar, we will amortize the investment in just four years and there would be years of useful life for the installation to achieve significant net savings ” , added Díaz.

On the other hand, as a key aspect in the sustainable development of its food distribution business, Díaz Food Solutions has also planned, together with EnconeSolar, three charging points for a fleet of new electric vehicles with which the company will renew its logistics park.
